NEVILLE Welcomes Re-establishment of Irish Embassy to Holy See
Fine Gael TD for Limerick, Dan Neville, has welcomed the decision by the Government to re-establish the Irish Embassy to the Holy See.
“The stated purpose of the re-established embassy is to enable Ireland to engage directly with the leadership of Pope Francis on the issues of poverty eradication, hunger and human rights”
“The Vatican is a veritable international crossroads and Ireland is seen as an international leader in tackling global hunger and poverty eradication. We have a proud humanitarian history and the Irish people and State are renowned internationally for their generosity. I welcome the fact that the re-established Embassy to the Holy See is going to be focussed on international development. I also welcome the overall expansion of Ireland’s embassy network to support trade and aid, with five new embassies and three new consulates. .”
