Neville welcomes progress on dole payments for self employed

Dan Neville Fine Gael T.D. Limerick said he hopes that the review being carried out by Joan Burton T.D., Minister for Social Protection into the Social Insurance Fund, will result in a system of dole payments being made available to the self employed.

Currently if a person is self employed and they find themselves out of work there is little or no support to them available from the State. I feel this is very unfair to entrepreneurs and sole traders who feel let down by the State and it is also discouraging others from setting up their own business, due to the risks involved.

Minister Burton has now commissioned a review of the Social Insurance Fund to explore how dole payments could be extended to the self employed.
