On 27th November 2005, Fine Gael held a public meeting at the Mansion House Dublin to commemorate the foundation by Arthur Griffith of Sinn Fein on 28th November 1905. The meeting had a capacity attendance and was of great interest to all who attended. |

The meeting was attended by Enda Kenny TD, Leader of Fine Gael, Richard Bruton TD deputy leader of Fine Gael, Tiernan Griffith Gray, Great-grandson of Arthur Griffith, Nora Owen Grand-niece of Michael Collins and former Minister for Justice. A vote of thanks to the speakers was proposed by Jim O'Higgins, nephew of Kevin O'Higgins TD,Minister for Justice assassinated on his way to Mass in 1927. The principal speakers were Brian Maye, Historian and biographer of Arthur Griffith and Dr. Michael Laffan, Head of History and Archives UCD. |
